Leonardo Gargani

PhD Student —

Leonardo Gargani is a Ph.D. student in Robotics at the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Laboratory (AIRLab) of Politecnico di Milano, enrolled in the Doctoral program in Robotics and Intelligent Machines (DRIM). He earned both his B.Sc. (2020) and M.Sc. (2023) degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. His master’s thesis concentrated on autonomous robotic inspections in industrial environments, providing him with hands-on experience in implementing robotic solutions to real-world challenges.

Under the supervision of Prof. Matteo Matteucci, his current research focuses on autonomous robotics for agricultural applications. Specifically, Leonardo is investigating mobile manipulation techniques for fruit harvesting, autonomous navigation strategies, and efficient path planning solutions for real field scenarios.

His goal is to connect research with industry needs, making robotics widely accessible to assist humans in challenging and repetitive tasks.
