Researcher —
Gianluca Bardaro is a research associate at the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Lab (AIRLab), part of the Department of Electronics, Information, and Bioengineering of Politecnico di Milano. He obtained M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2014 and later, in 2020, a Ph.D. in Information Technology. His PhD Thesis reflects his interdisciplinary experience and integrates different approaches that different domain experts can use to streamline the development process of robotic components. These methods include, for instance, model-based design, automatic code generation, and ontology-based abstractions. After his Ph.D., he worked as a research associate at the Knowledge Media Institute of the Open University (UK), where he took part in the GATEKEEPER project on robotic solutions for healthcare.
Since 2022, he has been working at AIRLab. His research interests include agricultural robotics, autonomous robots for inspection and maintenance in industrial environments, mobile manipulation, and robot learning.
