Research Assistant —
Erica Panelli is a research fellow at the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Lab (AIRLab), part of the Department of Electronics, Information, and Bioengineering of Politecnico di Milano (DEIB).
Her work is conducted within the FROB – Family of ROBots project (PRIN 2022), under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Bonarini. Her research focuses on robotics for disability, specifically on the design of modular robots that support children’s cognitive and social development through play, promoting classroom integration.
She earned her B.Sc. in 2020 and her M.Sc. in 2023, both in Computer Science and Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. Her master’s thesis focused on non-verbal human-robot interaction, developed through the creation of Odile, a non-humanoid robot designed for use in entertainment and theatrical settings. This experience allowed her to engage with the full development process of a robot, from design to implementation, within the context of interactive and performative applications.
